Harare Residents, NGOs Campaign Against Pre-Paid Water Meters

HARARE, Zimbabwe

The Combined Harare Residents’ Association (CHRA), along with other social organizations, has launched a campaign opposing the City Council’s plan to install pre-paid water meters in the capital.The group is going door-to-door with the goal of building a strong social base to reject the measure, CHRA Director Mfundo Mlilo said on his Facebook page.The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU), the Harare Metropolitan Residents’ Forum, the Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD), the National Association of Youth Organizations, the Zimbabwe Young Women’s Network for Peace Building, the Zimbabwe United Residents’ Association, and the Harare Residents’ Trust (HRT) also oppose installation of pre-paid meters...
