Yemen’s Humanitarian Situation Deteriorates Further, Is Now "Catastrophic:" Aid Workers

The humanitarian situation in Yemen has continued to deteriorate and has now become "catastrophic," according to relief workers.“It was difficult enough before, but now there are just no words for how bad it’s gotten,” The Guardian quoted International Committee of the Red Cross spokeswoman Marie Claire Feghali as saying this week. “It’s a catastrophe, a humanitarian catastrophe.”The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said fuel, water and food resources are running out in the southern part of the country, while garbage and sewage are accumulating on the streets.The risk of diarrheal disease has increased significantly as sanitation and hygiene conditions in the country deteriorate, it said...
