Bulawayo Moving Forward With Pre-Paid Meter Project: Mayor

Plans to install pre-paid water meters in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second-largest city, are at an advanced stage, with tenders invitations already issued for the devices, according to the city’s mayor, Martin Moyo.Speaking on local radio station Studio 7 last week, Moyo said the first phase of the project would be carried out in the Cowdray Park suburb.He acknowledged critics’ complaint that the plan may deny water access to those who cannot afford to pre-pay, but said the local authority should be given a chance to assess the use of the meters, noting that they could prove beneficial to everyone...
