Leaders in Kenya’s Murang’a County this week threatened to put a stop to construction work on the controversial $74 million USD Northern Collector Tunnel unless the local population is allowed to access water from the project.Murang’a County Senator Kembi Gitura led area leaders on July 14th in urging residents to halt the ongoing construction work.The move came after the Athi Water Services Board (AWSB) started building the tunnel despite an existing court order to wait until an understanding is reached with county leaders.Gitura said local people will not allow their resources to be taken away without an agreement between them and the water services board...
