Romania’s Botoșani County Loses Over $22 Million in EU Funds Due to Project Delays

Romania’s Botoșani County will lose over $22 million USD in European Union funding because it failed to meet the deadline for completing its water and sewage infrastructure investment program, according to Gheorghe Sorescu, interim president of the Botoșani County Council.“According to our estimations, about $22.31 million will not be absorbed for the water project,” Sorescu said.Hoewever, he said new funds from the EU’s 2014-2020 Environment Operational Program would be allocated to the program, which aims to extend the water and sewerage systems in localities with fewer than 2,000 residents...
