A Chinese NGO is suing eight companies for dumping waste in the Tengger Desert in the country's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation filed the cases with the Zhongwei Municipal Intermediate People's Court last week, according to official news agency Xinhua.Companies in Gansu, Inner Mongolia and Ningxia Hui, were previously found to have illegally dumped waste in the desert starting in 2007, potentially threatening local groundwater sources.The companies were ordered to shut down last September, and were put under investigation.
