SIWW Water Convention Calls for Papers

The Water Convention 2016 is officially calling for papers to be shared during next year’s Singapore International Water Week (SIWW).

The Water Convention, co-organized by the International Water Association (IWA) and PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, offers a platform for water experts to share solutions and practical experience, and to address challenges within five thematic areas.

The first theme, Delivering Water from Source to Tap, will profile best practices and case studies of technologies relating to the treatment and delivery of water, including those from alternative water sources, in an efficient, effective and sustainable manner.

The second theme, Effective and Efficient Wastewater Management, will look at sustainable wastewater treatment and network management strategies, with a focus on low-energy processes, resource recovery and asset management.

The third theme, Water for Liveability and Resilience, will look at case studies and research activities that employ effective engagement, planning and management strategies, as well as implementation of technologies and water systems to address the challenges.

Sessions held under the fourth theme, Water Quality and Health, aim to address major knowledge gaps, innovative developments, and emerging issues in water quality and health, with an eye to prevention, resilience, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.

The final theme, Water for Industries, calls for papers on water source and demand management; innovative industrial processes, water and wastewater treatment, and recycling technologies; and energy efficiency for water-intensive industries such as thermoelectric power generation, oil and gas, food and beverage, and mining.

The deadline for abstract submissions is 15 August 2015. For more information, please visit or email the Water Convention Secretariat at

“My colleagues and I are highly anticipative of a productive and instructive Water Convention SIWW 2016,” said Peter Joo Hee Ng, Executive Director of the Environment and Water Industry Program Office and Chief Executive of PUB. “In the interim, I urge everyone to respond resoundingly to this call for papers, and keep those contributions and submissions coming in.”

SIWW 2016 will be held from 10-14 July 2016.
