Argentinian Judge Announces Charges for Nine Barrick Gold Employees Over Cyanide Spill

Nine employees of Canadian miner Barrick Gold are being charged in connection with a cyanide spill earlier this month at the company’s Veladero mine in Argentina’s San Juan province, San Juan Judge Pablo Oritja said last week.Oritja told Argentinian radio last week that authorities could begin interrogating the employees as soon as October 6th.He said public officials could be summoned as witnesses, and that there could be further charges in the case.“…We do not rule out that omission of controls that the state had to carry out, which has led us to the request the documents of the relevant public bodies,” Oritja added...
