Contractor Halts Work on Kenya’s Northern Water Collector Tunnel

The Chinese construction company contracted to build Kenya’s $74 million USD Northern Water Collector Tunnel has halted operations and relocated its employees, in compliance with a court order.Arik Karani, a communications officer with the Athi Water Services Board (AWSB), which is carrying out the project, confirmed this week that work had stopped."As a state institution, we had to comply with the court order, and after the ruling is delivered, we will know the next course to pursue," he said.Kenya’s High Court on July 30th had ordered work on the project halted pending the outcome of a September 24th hearing...
