TEPCO to Start Freezing Soil Barrier at Fukushima

TOKYO, Japan

The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, will begin freezing a 1,500-meter-long and 30-meter deep soil barrier -- which aims to prevent groundwater from flowing into reactor basements -- by the end of the year.
