Yemen Has Still Received No Fuel Shipments, Threatening Water Supply, Healthcare

Yemen has received no new shipments of fuel in the week since President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi pledged to allow deliveries to through, the United Nations said on October 12th."In a letter to UN Secretary-General (Ban Ki-moon) on October 6th, President Hadi pledged to allow the import of fuel through all ports," said UN spokesman Farhan Haq. "Despite this pledge, no commercial fuel has yet been imported, and 11 commercial ships remain anchored off-shore” at Al Hudaydah port.Fuel shortages in Yemen also mean water shortages -- since fuel-powered water pumps are unable to operate -- which in turn raises the risk of waterborne diseases...
