Karachi Residents Launch New Protests Over Water, Electricity Shortages

KARACHI, Pakistan

Karachi residents took to the streets again this week to protest water and electricity shortages throughout the city.The protesters chanted anti-government slogans and blocked streets, causing traffic jam on a number of roads, local news outlet Dunya News reported.Last weekend, demonstrations were also held over the ongoing lack of water and power in the Golimar area; Golimar residents have held protests at other times over the past few months as well.Police and rangers were called in to disperse the protests, but the protesters themselves agreed to leave on the assurance that their grievances would be addressed...
