Pakistan to Start Construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam Next Year

The Pakistani government has announced that it will start construction of the long-awaited Diamar Bhasha Dam next year.The land acquisition process for the dam was completed back in September, for a total of some $1 billion USD. Some of those funds will be used to resettle and compensate the more than 4,200 families who will be displaced by the project.Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said the dam will now likely be included as part of the second phase of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), an under-construction $46 billion USD megaproject that aims to upgrade and expand Pakistani infrastructure...
