China Three Gorges Corporation to Build $2.4 Billion Kohala Hydropower Project in Pakistan

Chinese state-owned power company China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC) has announced that it will develop the $2.4 billion USD, 1,100-megawatt Kohala Hydropower Project on the Jhelum River in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.It will be the company’s biggest investment in the Pakistani hydropower market.The run-of-river project will be completed by 2023. It is part of the $46 billion USD China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which includes a network of energy, roads, railways and infrastructure projects to help Pakistan’s development and give China access to Gwadar port.CTGC announced on its website that it has now received a supporting letter from the Pakistani government for the project...
