District Court of the Hague Rules in Favor of Chevron in Ecuador Pollution Case

The District Court of the Hague last week denied an attempt by Ecuador to overturn an earlier arbitration court ruling handed down against the country in its multi-billion-dollar Amazon pollution case against US-based oil giant Chevron.“Today’s decision reinforces the integrity of the arbitral proceedings and ensures that Ecuador will be held accountable for violations of its international commitments,” Chevron said in a statement on January 22nd.“We look forward to the tribunal’s final award on the merits, which should hold Ecuador responsible for the multiple frauds committed against Chevron throughout the Lago Agrio case...
