Mining company Samarco -- which is jointly owned by BHP Billiton and Vale SA -- on March 3rd signed a $6.2 billion USD settlement agreement with the Brazilian government over the tailings dam collapse at its iron ore mine in Minas Gerais state, which killed 19 people last November.
