EU Provides Another $43.5 Million in Aid to Haiti

The European Union is providing an additional $43.5 million USD in cash aid for drought-stricken Haiti. The funds include nearly $14 million USD to supply food and drinking water to more than 400,000 Haitians.Some 3.6 million people -- a third of the country’s population -- are facing food insecurity. Of those, 1.5 million are severely food insecure, according to the United Nations World Food Program.The 2015 spring harvest was below average, with three-quarters of farmers reporting losing more than 82 percent of production, and for the 2016 spring season, 65 percent of families said they could not plant due to a lack of agricultural inputs, the WFP said...
