Natural Disasters Displaced Over 19 Million in 2015

Disasters such as drought, sea level rise and desertification drove 19.2 million people in 113 countries from their homes in 2015, according to the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center’s 2016 Global Report on Internal Displacement.Disasters triggered by natural hazards caused twice as many new displacements in 2015 as conflict and violence, according to the report, produced by the Norwegian Refugee Council.South and East Asia were the hardest hit regions, with India, China and Nepal accounting for the highest numbers.The disasters included floods, storms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, wildfires, landslides and extreme temperatures...
