New UNEP Report Warns of Rapid Pace of Environmental Deterioration

Environmental deterioration around the world is occurring at a faster pace than than previously thought, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) warned in a new report.Results from the latest Global Environmental Outlook (GEO-6): Regional Assessments, released ahead of the UN Environment Assembly being held in Nairobi, Kenya this week, showed that a number of common environmental threats, among them climate change, loss of biodiversity, land degradation, and water scarcity, are rapidly intensifying in many parts of the world.The assessments also showed that there is still time to tackle many of the worst impacts of environmental change, such as damage to marine ecosystems and increasing levels of air pollution, UNEP said...
