Brazil’s Superior Court of Justice this week suspended a $2.1 billion USD financial settlement between Brazilian national and state governments and mining companies Samarco, Vale SA and BHP Billiton over the tailings dam burst at Samarco’s iron ore mine in Minas Gerais state last November.
