The Metolong Authority (MA), administrators of Lesotho’s newly commissioned Metolong Dam and Water Supply Program, say they have implemented a fully integrated environmental and social protection plan to address the project's effects on people, flora and fauna in the dam’s catchment area.Metolong Dam was commissioned by Lesotho head of state King Letsie III in December 2015. The $3 billion USD project includes construction of the dam, downstream conveyance works, advance structures, and water treatment works, as well as the environmental and social management program.The project is being financed by the government of Lesotho and donors including the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), the World Bank and the European Investment Bank (EIB), among others...
