Namibia Desal Project: Appeal Succeeds

Namibia’s leading mining company, Rössing Uranium, a subsidiary of British-Australian Rio Tinto Group has won an appeal to build a coastal water desalination plant. The company this week received the green light from the environment ministry, but still requires another clearance from the agriculture ministry, which previously blocked the project.The approval was subject to one key factor. “A water authorization letter must be obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry before the construction of the plant commences,” according to environment commissioner Teofilus Nghitila...
