State of Emergency Declared After Ukraine Halts Water Supply to Breakaway Region of Luhansk

LUHANSK, Ukraine

A state of emergency has been declared in a number of districts in the self-proclaimed “Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR)” in eastern Ukraine, after Kyiv halted water supply to the region, local news outlets in the breakaway territory said this week.“The LPR Council of Ministers has issued an instruction to impose a state of emergency in certain districts of the republic over insufficient water supplies to cities and villages under sanitary norms,” LugansInformCenter reported.It said water supplies to the LPR from the Petrovsky water intake facility and western filtration station had been cut off...
