Argentinian Judge Upholds Suspension at Veradero Mine

An Argentinian judge on September 30th upheld the suspension of operations at Barrick Gold Corp's Veladero mine in San Juan province.In his decision, Judge Pablo Oritja cited a report from provincial mining police, which found that Barrick had not carried out sufficient repairs after a processing solution leak earlier in September.The government of San Juan province had temporarily suspended operations at the mine after a pipe carrying process solution -- which includes cyanide -- was damaged by a large block of ice that rolled down from the heap leach valley slope on September 8th. None of the solution from the damaged pipe was reported to have reached any watercourses...
