China Enters the Indus Fray

In a new twist on disputes surrounding the future of the Indus Waters Treaty, China has blocked the Yarlung Tsangpo tributary of the Brahmaputra River in Tibet which flows into India.

The Tibetan Plateau in the Himalayas is the source of Asia’s ten river systems, which affect 11 countries and more than two billion people.
