Luhansk Separatist Government Signs Water Supply Agreement With Ukraine

LUHANSK, Ukraine

The self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) has signed an agreement with the Ukrainian government for moderate water supply, according to LPR Emergency Ministry head Sergey Ivanushkin.“From now on we will receive water from the adjoining side [territory under Ukraine’s control], based on contractual arrangements,” he told Lugansk24 TV.He said the agreement provided for only small amounts of water.“We need more water... We have never had enough water, that is why at this stage we agreed to this yield, to have a reserve for autumn-winter period,” Ivanushkin said.“We need this water, but even if they [the Ukrainian side] shut it off, our boiler houses will keep operating as we have appropriate means to overcome it,” he added...
