Pakistan Cement Factories Barred From Using Potable Water

The Pakistan Supreme Court July 10 barred certain cement factories from using potable water, as it issued an admonishment to the privately owned fcilities for putting profits before the environment. The court was hearing a case pertaining to the depleted Katas Raj pond in Chakwal, Punjab – a revered site for Hindus - which is said to have depleted due to operations in the vicinity of several cement factories that have sucked out underground water.
