Angola-Namibia Transboundary Water Project Inaugurated.

Authorities from Angola and Namibia this week inaugurated the Calueque-Oshakati cross-border water supply project, distributing water resources from the shared Cunene River.The project involves the rehabilitation and upgrading of existing water supply infrastructure, most notably the 150 kilometer Calueque-Oshakati canal which supplies Northern Namibia with drinking and irrigation water from the Cunene River in Southern Angola, for irrigation and drinking purposes.The canal infrastructure suffered from the 27 year civil war in Angola, and from illegal water withdrawal.
