EU Takes Spain To Court For Neglect Of Doñana Wetlands

The European Commission announced January 24 that it will refer Spain to the European Court of Justice for failure to take sufficient measures to protect groundwaters that run into the Doñana Wetlands in Andalusia. Spain has long been accused of breaching EU water legislation that requires member states to take adequate steps to prevent the deterioration of the protected habitat.
