CARACAS, Venezuela

Tens of thousands of Venezuelans rallied in the country’s capital Caracas April 6 to protest water and power outages, and the administration of President Nicolas Maduro who they blame for the crisis.

The protesters back opposition leader Juan Guaido, head of the opposition-controlled National Assembly who is recognized as Venezuela’s legitimate head of state by the United States and other Western countries. Guaido had called for rallies to mark the start of what he has billed as a new wave of “definitive” protests to oust Maduro.
