The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has signed an agreement with Kosovo to finance a new wastewater treatment plant in the city of Gjilan in the east of the country.

Proceeds of the $11 Million USD loan, announced May 9, will finance the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant and rehabilitation and extension of the wastewater network in the city. The improvements in sanitation standards will also help reduce pollution in local rivers.
