A newly-formed joint venture of Orascom Construction and Arab Contractors has been awarded a $739 Million USD contract to build the Bahr Albaqar wastewater treatment plant in north-west Egypt. Upon completion, it will be the largest in Egypt, and among the largest in the world, with capacity to treat up to 5,000,000 m3 of water daily. The facility is part of the Bahr Albaqar drainage project and the processed water will be used in regional irrigation.
