Africa Needs An Early Alert System To Warn Of Imminent Disasters

The African Union (AU) has called for new measures to warn of imminent disasters in the continent. Harsen Nyambe, AU Head of Environment, Climate Change, Water and Land Management Commission cited the continent’s long-standing reactive response to disasters and urged member states of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) to implement early warning systems in order to bolster reaction time and protect against disaster scenarios. (Zambia News Service)."The African Union is coming up with the continental framework that links up with the global initiatives that will surely avert the effects of climate change as highlighted in the agenda 2063," Nyamba told a workshop on regional climate resilience...
