Chennai Water Tanker Operators Drop Strike Plans

In a relief to Chennai residents, the private water tankers who had announced an indefinite strike from Monday dropped the plan after authorities intervened. The Tamil Nadu Water Lorry Owners’ Association had announced its decision to go on an indefinite strike after around 40 water tankers were allegedly seized in Parivakkam village in Tiruvallur district after the villagers claimed that they were exploiting groundwater. However, the strike has been called off after the government reportedly promised to help the tankers source water in the coming days.
