Diesel Pollution Forces Water Supply Cuts In Malaysia's Klang Valley

PETALING JAYA

A diesel pollutant detected in Sungai Selangor in the Malaysian state of Selangor forced the shutdown of four water treatment plants on Sunday (July 21), affecting consumers in the Klang Valley, one of the country's most densely populated areas. The shutdown of the water treatment plants by supply company Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) - which serves Selangor state as well as Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur - came just two days after an odour pollution forced more than a million consumers to face an abrupt water cut.
