Large (more than 30 kilograms) freshwater residing animals declined by 88 percent over a 42 year period, a new study shows. The Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) launched results of a study August 8 that tracked the earth’s largest freshwater animal populations from 1970 to 2012.
