The International Secretariat for Water and Solidarity Water Europe will host an Intergenerational Dialogue on Water and Peace (7 November) during Geneva Peace Week.
The organisations join the Geneva Water Hub, the World Youth Parliament for Water, the Swiss Water Partnership, the Université de Genève, the Graduate Institute, the Water Initiative, and GeoExpertise to host an exchange to showcase advanced student and young professionals’ contributions to peacebuilding. A dialogue about water and peace among the young and senior experts will include the following themes:
- Local and inclusive water management practices for conflict prevention.
- Water in contemporary warfare from a civilians’ perspective.
- Fostering transboundary water cooperation
The session will feature a special artistic intervention from the "Imagine BluePeace" call produced by the International Secretariat for Water, the World Youth Parliament for Water and the Geneva Water Hub.
Geneva Peace Week is a flagship initiative of the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform in collaboration with the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), and the Platform’s five partners – the Graduate Institute’s Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding (CCDP); the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF); the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP); Interpeace; and the Quaker United Nations Office, Geneva (QUNO). Geneva Peace Week is also supported by the government of Switzerland.
