Trump Administration Escalates Water Feud With California

In an apparent distraction ploy to increase political pressure on the water-stressed state of California, the US Environment Protection Agency (USEPA) has issued a formal notice accusing the city of San Francisco of a number of violations of the country's Clean Water Act.

letter from the federal agency follows accusations last month that the city allows used needles and human waste to be released untreated into the Pacific Ocean. It cites operating permit violations of the city and county wastewater treatment and sewer systems asserting poor maintenance, thus allowing for the discharge of partially-treated and raw sewage into the ocean.
