US Government Plans Further Weakening Of Clean Water Protections

United States President Donald Trump has elaborated on his government's plan to roll back federal protections of water resources, telling the American Farm Bureau Federation 19 January that new water supply rules would “protect the water rights of American farmers and ranchers".This follows a September 2019 act that has scrapped the prior definition of water and reverts waterway protections to 1986 standards. The President's declaration appears to be a precursor to anticipated changes in Waters of the United States (WOTUS) legislation.“Water is the lifeblood of agriculture and we will always protect your water supply,” Trump added...
