Leading impact investors and water experts have launched a new non-profit "Water Finance Exchange" (WFX) to address funding gaps in the water sector in the United States. The specific aim is to help meet the growing needs of small and mid-sized utilities across the US by supplementing public and private financing sources with philanthropic funds at the community level.WFX describes its vision as to break down financial and structural barriers that have historically hampered water sector finance in order to accelerate water and wastewater infrastructure investment. The target market is largely rural, and WFX has partnered with Cobank, the Rural Community Assistance Partnership and the Rural Community Assistance Corporation to establish a rural community predevelopment fund that will serve to catalyse fundable projects...
