Call For Equitable Water Sharing Among Pakistan Provinces

Dry Year Has Caused Shortages

LAHORE

Minister Hussain Jahanian Gardezi commented that the inequitable distribution of water to Punjab is detrimental to important crops including cotton and paddy production targets and overall food security of the country. The provincial agriculture minister said that in the current scenario, Punjab is facing 22 Percent water shortage while Sindh is facing 17 Perccent water shortage. He called on Indus River System Authority (IRSA) to immediately review this fact to ensure fair distribution of water resources.
